Catching up

Can't believe it has been almost two years since I have posted on here. A lot has happened.

1. I graduated from Utah State University with a 3.88 GPA (Dec 2010)

2. I completed an internship in DC workign in the office of Senator Orrin G Hatch, working defense, energy, and land use issues. I also did your normal intern stuff, mailing letters, worked on reports, attended hearings, gave tours of the capitol, etc. (Jan- Apr 2011)

3. I worked over the summer in the cutting department at Guardian Industries in my hometown of upper Sandusky, OH making wind shields. (May-August 2011)

4. I started graduate school at TX A&M (Gig' em!) at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, working on a Maters in public Administration. I am concntrating in Energy and Security policy as well as emergency managemnet, in the Public management track. I finised my first year with a 3.75 GPA. (Aug 2011- May 2010)

5. I am currently back in DC working as a Staff Assistant (GS-7) at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. I work in the Office of Public Engagement, with the Intergovernmental Affairs staff. I work on various projects, mainly the UPIL program (unauthorized practice of immigration law) but have also worked on organizing the inaugural stakeholder symposium, emailing interested stakeholders, making name tags, etc. I have also been working on updating the IGA website, compiling daily and weekly reports, attending meetings, etc.

Well, that should catch you up with where life has taken me. While at Texas A&M, I have attended over 40 sporting events ranging from basketball (mens and womens), football(home and away), baseball, softball, and tennis. This season I plan to make it to some volleyball and soccer matches and hope to eclipse the 75 games attended mark. I may even try to make it to a Rangers, Texans, Cowboys, Rockets, and Astros game. I like to see different stadiums and teams i normally wouldn't see.

I also plan to make it to two road games for football this season, at LA Tech, and at SMU.

Well I should log off of here. I have some cleaning to do and need to run some errands. God bless! and Gig' Em!

Last semester of undergrad

Well, we are almost half way through the fall semester. Been quite busy so far. All of my classes have been reading intensive. I have an exam the day after fall break. I still have no set plans upon graduation in December. So many choices, little time to decide. I have so many responsibilities this semester through work, (USU Veterans day ceremony coordinator, advisory to the student veterans chapter, etc) school ( Government relations council political action committee chair, get out the vote registration drive, senior research seminar, other classes, etc. I haven't even been very active in groups I affiliated with last semester to include the middle eastern club, Pi Sigma Alpha, and the college republicans), and church. (I am a vice chair of the inter-chapters of the Institute Mens association. this semester I have been involved in organizing a tailgating party, a shotgun shoot, grilling 2000 burgers, member of an 1100+ member choir, and several other activities) I am ready for this semester to be over. I will be heading to myrtle Beach for Christmas with the family after graduation.

Been a busy month. Went to Spokane, WA for spring break to see the first round of the NCAA Basketball tournament. Saw Purdue beat Sienna, but Utah State lost to Texas aTm.

Went to my caucus meeting and am now the Precinct chair, state delegate, and county delegate.

School keeps me busy. Little time for fun

Long time since last post

College life can be draining. There are weeks I average over 600 pages of reading and several papers/ exams. I am applying for congressional internships for the summer semester. Lately I have been elected to two positions and am running for a third. I am the Cache County Chairman for the Young Republicans and am also the President of the Student Veterans Association for Utah State. I am currently running for State Delegate and possibly precinct chair for the Logan 23rd Precinct. Life has been real busy. I don't have set plans for spring break, but will be going to the Lincoln Day dinner here in Logan tomorrow and am volunteering at Mitt Romney's book signing in Salt Lake on Saturday. Seems there is never a break!

Utah State

Well orientation is completed.  I have registered for classes, 4 for this semester. 2 Political science classes and 2 required USU general education classes.   USU requires two classes with a USU prefix in order to graduate so I figured I might as well get them completed this semester.  Hopefully My CLEP credits get here so i can have additional classes marked off.    I am still looking for an apartment, but have one picked out that i like.  Hopefully I get a call back today to sign a lease agreement.

Driving through Wyoming - Running at 7000 ft

Well i survived the drive through Wyoming.  There were 2 semi's that blew over due to high winds.  Signs posted said 45 MPH plus.  Radio said over 50 MPH.  I made it to Utah at about 4PM Mountain time.  Nicholas Kippen( who introduced me to the church) invited me to stay at his place and then we will head to Moab tomorrow.   His twins didn't recognize me at first, some because I have gained weight and also because I haven't shaved in a week.

We went for a run at about 5:30 PM and to be honest I didn't do too well.  It was the first time I have run in this high of elevation and after 1 1/2 miles I was drained.  I couldn't finish the whole 3 miles.  The hills were especially tough.

Road trip

I am currently on a road trip to Utah to go Mountain biking in Moab this weekend.  then it if off to Logan for an orientation at Utah State.  I am currently in Laramie Wyoming, before heading to Roy UT in the morning.  Looking forward to colder weather and SNOW.

It has rained most of the trip so far so it has taken me longer to drive the 1650 miles from OH to UT.
